The difference between UPS and EPS

一、UPS:

1. UPS is an uninterruptible power supply, mainly used to provide power protection for important loads, including eliminating various power disturbances in the power grid, such as power outages, voltage fluctuations, frequency fluctuations, harmonics, voltage distortion, electrical noise, spikes etc. It is an internationally and domestically recognized product for protecting important loads, and has strict international and national standards.

2. UPS has high output precision, fast conversion time, high cost (about twice that of EPS), high energy consumption (online type), and short host life (8-10 years).

二、 EPS:

1. EPS is an emergency power supply, mainly to provide power supply to the load for a certain period of time after the mains power failure. Therefore, there is an interruption from the power failure of the mains power supply to the resumption of output. When the mains is normal, there is the mains to supply power to the load, but it does not deal with various disturbances in the mains, which is a bit like a backup UPS.

However, this product has only one definition in China’s fire protection law, without a clear explanation, and there is no similar product in the world, so there is no corresponding international standard and national standard.

2. Generally, the power supply is not subjected to constant current and constant voltage processing. Usually, the contactor is used for switching, and the switching time is 0.1-0.25S. Its advantages are simple structure, low cost, low energy consumption and no noise at ordinary times, long service life of the host (15-20 years), can be adapted to inductive, capacitive and comprehensive loads, and can realize variable frequency soft start when necessary.
